Clinique 3-Step Skin Care System for Combination Oily Review

I was really excited to try this set because if you’ve read previous skin care posts by me you’ll know that I’m obsessed with curing my oily skin. Although I must say that lately I have been zero shine all day. Brittany actually got me this for my birthday because she’s heard me talk about my oiliness anytime we go to Sephora together.

So the Liquid Facial Soap was great. My only tiny complaint is that I wish it doubled as a makeup remover. My face had to be clean before slathering it on, so it was extra clean when I washed my face off a second time.

This little guy was kind of a shock to the system. As soon as I unscrewed the top I was hit with a super smell strong of vodka. So strong that it was a little nauseating. I was quickly transported back to university days when I would swing back straight shots of vodka and I cringed. But I took a cotton ball and soaked it in the clarifying lotion (I have no idea why it’s considered a lotion) and rubbed it on my face. My face smelt like vodka…

I quickly grabbed the dramatically different moisturizing gel hoping that it would mask the vodka smell, and thankfully it helped a lot. It’s a gel cream, which is the best kind for me to use. It also doesn’t look that big in the photo, but it’s a pretty decent size (a lot bigger than the other products in the box). I will be using this liberally since I’ve pretty much run out of my other gel creams. I’m hoping that this works well as a pre-makeup cream.

Overall, I’m really impressed with this deal and will definitely be adapting this into my regular skin care routine a few times a week. My only negative comment is the clarifying lotion. The vodka smell is awful. I think I’m going to have to pinch my nose when I wipe it on my face.

What’s your skin care routine?
